Kyle Tanger
CEO & President, Clear Carbon Consulting
Kyle Tanger is the founder of ClearCarbon, experts at measuring, managing and monetizing carbon. He has more than 14 years of carbon and energy expertise, having managed the complex greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory efforts of several multi-million dollar companies with combined GHG emissions totaling well over 150 million tons.
In 2007, Kyle led supply chain carbon footprint analyses for Wal-Mart’s supply chain initiative pilot in conjunction with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and continues to work closely with Wal-Mart on its Sustainability Index. Kyle has performed dozens of carbon lifecycle assessments for individual consumer products as well as larger supply chain analyses.
Kyle served as an expert peer reviewer for the World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol (WRI/WBSCD GHG Protocol), and is currently advising on many new GHG standards with multiple stakeholder groups.
Kyle also serves as an advisory board member for the Pew Center for Global Climate Change’s new report on corporate energy efficiency strategy and is part of Pew’s Business Environmental Leadership Council (BELC).
Greg Williams
Director of Safety, Health and Environment, MeadWestvaco
Greg Williams is the Director of Safety, Health and Environment for MWV – MeadWestvaco. MWV provides packaging solutions and products to many of the world’s best-known companies and most-admired brands. With a presence in more than 30 countries, MWV’s research, design, manufacturing and distribution capabilities serve leaders in the food and beverage, media and entertainment, personal care, home and garden, cosmetics and healthcare industries. Over his twenty five year career he has participated in environmental resource and stewardship initiatives including water resource conservation, watershed protection, estuary recovery, and innovative approaches to site clean-up and rehabilitation. In his current role at MWV he leads the Performance Assurance and Process Innovation team in MWV’s Global Policy & Strategy SH&E organization. His areas of oversight include Emerging Issues (GHG and Carbon footprint); SH&E Auditing, Learning & Development and Business Systems; Occupational Health; and overall development of SH&E Policy & Strategy. His educational background is in engineering and he has been qualified as an expert witness to testify in several administrative proceedings.
Jim Bruce
Special Counsel to Corporate Public Affairs, UPS
Jim Bruce is Special Counsel to UPS Corporate Public Affairs in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Sustainability Working Group at UPS that has over the last year and a half expanded the UPS Sustainability program with a series of new initiatives, including using sustainability as a competitive marketing advantage. He is an attorney and engineer with expertise in climate change, energy, and issues related to government policy and procurement, and he is an accomplished legislative draftsman.
Prior to his joining UPS, Jim was a partner at Wiley, Rein, LLP in the Government Policy Group in Washington, D.C. There he assisted corporate clients, including national and multinational companies in major energy intensive industries, on climate change legislation pending in Congress and other energy legislation, including the regulation of automobile fuel economy.
Before his term at Wiley Rein, he was the Senior Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources with 13 years service, where he drafted or participated in the drafting of many of our nation’s energy laws, and provided expertise on energy, defense, and appropriations legislation. While in that capacity he also became one of the Senate’s experts on the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), co-authoring several reports to the Senate in classified and unclassified editions, based on extensive briefings at the national laboratories and from SDI program officials and defense contractors. Prior to that service, he was Counsel to the Senate Committee on Aeronautical and Space Sciences. During his service on the Hill, Jim also wrote numerous speeches and op-eds for Senators on various energy and defense issues.
He holds a B.S.E. (with Honors) and M.S.E. from Princeton University in aerospace mechanical engineering. His master’s thesis was in the field of automatic feedback control systems. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and is a registered patent attorney. He was honorably discharged as a captain in the U.S. Army in the Transportation Corps.
Jon Freedman
GE Infrastructure - Water Process Technologies’ Global Government Relations Leader
Since 2005, Jon Freedman has been GE Infrastructure-Water Process Technologies’ Global Government Relations Leader. In this role, Jon is responsible for monitoring and helping shape domestic and international water policies. In addition, Jon helps form technology collaboratives between GE Water and government entities.
Jon joined GE more than eight years ago as a Business Development Leader with GE Energy, where he initiated and led the acquisitions of three global water treatment companies that became the basis for GE’s Water business. Jon then joined GE’s Corporate Marketing Initiatives Group, reporting to GE’s Chief Marketing Officer, where he was the project leader for GE’s environmental business initiative now known as ecomagination.
Before joining GE, Jon worked for Suez Group, both in the United States and in Paris, France. Jon received a B.A. from the University of Virginia, a law degree from William & Mary, and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mark Case
Senior Vice President of Strategy and Regulatory Affairs, Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (BGE)

Mr. Case is the Senior Vice President of Strategy and Regulatory Affairs for Baltimore Gas & Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy. BGE provides electric transmission service and electric and gas distribution service to more than 1.2 million customers in the central Maryland region. Mr. Case’s responsibilities include strategy and business planning, energy planning and procurement, PJM load settlement, customer choice programs, and regulatory and pricing issues before the Maryland Public Service Commission. He also leads the development and implementation of BGE's demand response, energy efficiency, and smart grid initiatives.
Mr. Case’s career with BGE spans 26 years. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland, and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. He serves on the Boards of the Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake Region, the University of Maryland MTECH Program, and the Maryland Strategic Energy Investment Fund. He resides in West Friendship, MD, and has two children, twelve and nine years old.
Mark Goodwin
Chief Operating Officer – Apex Wind Energy
Apex Wind Energy is a national wind energy developer based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Apex focuses on industrial wind projects, offshore developments, and utility-scale greenfield opportunities. As The Chief Operating Officer, Mark develops corporate strategy, evaluates acquisition and partnership opportunities, and oversees the execution of development projects.
Before joining Apex Wind Energy in August of 2009, Mark was the Director of Turbine Procurement and Technology for Horizon Wind Energy. At Horizon Mark was responsible for the due diligence, selection and procurement of wind turbine generators for all of Horizon’s utility scale wind energy projects. In this capacity Mark was the lead commercial negotiator for five major multi-year wind turbine supply frame agreements with a total contract value over $3billion and 2,700 MW. Additionally Mark was responsible for the execution and turnover of project level agreements to Horizon’s Construction, Engineering and Operations departments.
Prior to Horizon Mark worked for wind turbine manufacturers Vestas and NEG Micon as the Technical Sales Manager for North America. Mark’s responsibilities included product management, sales and marketing and contracting on multiple wind farm projects. Mark is a former Naval Officer and Helicopter Pilot. He holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
